Frequently asked questions
Your questions answered.
- How is Slice of Advice different from traditional coaching?
- Slice of Advice differs from traditional coaching by providing bit-sized, focused advice targeted at particular problems. This eliminates the need for lengthy, ongoing coaching sessions and allows you to get targeted help for specific issues. It also gives you access to coaches who might not be easily accessible due to location or other constraints.
- What sports and hobbies are covered on Slice of Advice?
- To start with, we're focusing on BASE jumping, skydiving, wingsuiting, and paramotoring. However, our platform is open to coaches from any sport or specialty. While our initial marketing efforts are concentrated on air sports, we plan to expand to include a wider variety of disciplines in the future.
- How do I find the right coach for me?
- At the moment, we don't have a centralized directory of coaches. Instead, coaches will advertise their SliceOfAdvice page through their usual social media channels. This allows you to find coaches within your existing network of followers and connections on platforms you already use.
- How much does a session typically cost?
- Pricing is completely up to the individual coach. However, we suggest a starting point of £15 for most "threads", which refers to a single exchange or question-and-answer session. Ultimately, coaches have the flexibility to set their rates based on their expertise and the complexity of the inquiry.
- How do I get paid?
- Coaches can start earning by advertising their services and answering questions (or "threads") on the platform. To receive payouts, you'll need to provide your payment details. We process and distribute payments twice a month for all threads that have been completed and answered to the student's satisfaction.
- What percentage does Slice of Advice take?
- SliceOfAdvice retains 25% of the total coaching fee. This percentage covers the costs associated with card processing, fraud protection, and the ongoing maintenance and operation of the platform. The remaining portion of the fee goes directly to the coach.
